Mongolia is a country in East and Central Asia. It borders only two countries, Russia and China. 45% of the population (which is ~3 millions total) lives in the capital, Ulan Bator. At 1,5 millions square kilometres, Mongolia is the 19th largest and the most sparsely populated independent country in the world. The country contains very little arable land, as much of its area is covered by steppes, with mountains to the north and west and the Gobi Desert to the south. Approximately 30% of the population are nomadic or semi-nomadic.

The area of what is now Mongolia has been ruled by various nomadic empires, the most known one was created by Genghis Khan in 1206. From the 14th century up until 1921, Mongolia was under Chinese rule.

Mongolia jest krajem położonym we wschodniej i centralnej Azji. Sąsiaduje tylko z dwoma krajami: Rosją i Chinami. 45% populacji (liczącej w sumie ok. 3 milionów) mieszka w stolicy, Ułan Bator. Obszar zajmowany przez Mongolię wynosi 1,5 miliona kilometrów kwadratowych, co czyni ją 19. największym niepodległym krajem na świecie i z najmniejszą gęstością ludności. Kraj ten posiada bardzo mało rejonów nadających się pod uprawę, jako że większość kraju pokryta jest stepami, północ i zachód zajmują góry, natomiast na południu znajduje się pustynia Gobi. Około 30% populacji to koczownicy.
